DIY Cat Treats

DIY Cat Treats

Imagine your feline friend’s eyes lighting up with delight as they nibble on a treat made with love just for them. Homemade cat treats bring joy to your whiskered companion and add a personal touch to their snack time. Picture this: your kitchen transforming into a cat treat factory, where every purr and gentle nudge encourages you to whip up something special. Whether you’re a seasoned chef or a curious newbie, making treats at home is a fun, rewarding way to pamper your pet with the healthiest and tastiest goodies tailored just for their unique tastes.

Baked Salmon Treats

  • 10 oz canned salmon
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 2 cups flour (whole wheat flour is the best)
  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Pulse 10 ounces of undrained, canned salmon (or the canned fish of your choice) in a food processor until fine
  3. Combine fish, beaten egg, and flour with a mixer on medium until dough forms. If the dough is too dry, slowly add up to ⅓ cup water until the dough reaches the desired consistency. Your dough should be tacky, not sticky.
  4. Roll dough on a floured surface until about ¼” thick. Use a ¾” cookie cutter to cut out the treats.
  5. Place treats on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 350° for about 20 minutes. When they’re slightly browned and crunchy, they’re done.
  6. Allow to cool completely before serving or storing.
  7. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.

Baked Chicken Treats

  • 1/2 cup ground chicken
  • 1/3 cup oat flour
  • 1 tbsp. minced parsley
  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Stir ingredients together in mixing bowl.
  3. Lightly coat baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray.
  4. Roll ingredients into ½-inch balls and place 1 inch apart on a baking sheet.
  5. Bake at 350° for 12-15 minutes.
  6. Let cool completely before serving.

Baked Cheesy Delights

  • 3/4 c. shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 c. whole-wheat flour
  • 1/4 c. plain yogurt
  • 1/4 c. cornmeal
  • 5 T. grated Parmesan cheese

Combine ingredients into a dough. Roll it out to about 1/4 inch. Cut into one-inch pieces and bake on a greased cookie sheet at 350° for about 25 minutes.
